Letter To County Council

Kershaw County Council

Tuesday Oct. 30, 2012

Ladies and Gentleman,

I realize that there are many things that come across your council table concerning the maintenance of our county. I know that at times there is just not enough money to go around.

You have to deal with everything from schools to road maintenance to animal control. I appreciate that you do all you can do with what resources you have.

Again, I have to ask for one thing more.

This morning while drinking my coffee on the front porch, I had to take care of another Walker. I have contacted you about this before. Why can't this just be another service taken care of by Animal Control? I know that they have a regular exploratory route they run through the county. It seems that it would be easier for them to take care of the problem while they are in the area than for us to have to call it in and wait for someone to come out and deal with the problem. That's not even taking into consideration the man hours, cost of fuel, and the fact that your guy has to use the rifle "with the cool scope" (his words, not mine) wasting a bullet when you can just whack these things in the head with a machete or shovel and be done with it. While I am making this request, burning them on site would be way more cost effective than taking them all the way back to the county landfill and also help lower the spread of disease, not to mention the smell. The chicken and turkey barns are already bad enough.

I realize that just before Halloween we do see a rise in the undead and more of the supernatural face of our community shows itself, but enough is enough.

I have lunches to make, kids to get off to school, and a house to take care of.

Your consideration of this matter is appreciated.

S. Seegars
