So this came Friday...

To me this is an awesome, almost sacred moment. You almost don't want to break the seal what with all the awesomeness of a new piece of tech being added to your arsenal. I know, I get paid in technology. She says it's way better than me running around drinking and doing other things. She's very supportive of my caching and she enjoys it too. As do the boy and girl, we are a caching family.

So I wanted to check out this latest addition the last couple of days and see if it was all I thought it would be. I didn't want anyone to sway my view on it. I have been keeping it under wraps. It is relatively new tech, at the least the latest version of this type.

Just adding to the wait a bit. I *really* enjoy the Droid platform. You can probably, maybe, guess what is in the box. I have been in the Droid Army for two years. And I have enjoyed it so much that I even bought an Asus Transformer TF-101. Still waiting on my ICS update.

That is the only problem I have with Droid, so many devices that you can't get the update when you want it. So many hoops to jump through.

I purchased this latest cause I have been through two Droid X's. Both times a fault with the phone. Yet I stayed. I am a loyal person and I loved the platform as does the wife.

Which is why this kinda bothers me. I have been loyal, I have been a huge supporter. But it's all to much wait and see for me so...

Today I announce my retirement from the Droid Army. I hate it but for the reasons above, I gotta have something that is going to do what I want it to do. I would never talk badly about Droid because like I said, I have been a Droid Army member for two years. But I have had enough.

But like I said I still have my TF-101. I think of myself as retiring from the Droid Army and joining more of the Droid Guard. My desk runs across several platforms from Droid to Mac to Unbuntu to Windows. I guess no one really has me as I am kind of a tech nomad.

Something I won't like is that I will no longer have c:geo on the road with me caching as the GS app just doesn't have the functionality I would like. I do have c:geo loaded to my Transformer so I think I may find a happy medium somewhere in there. I will work on it.

But yeah. I went Apple.

And that is the end of my tale.
